The wonderful and capable staff throughout, Reception, Cleaning staff, and those in the Breakfast room. Artworks were beautiful and the reason I booked art’otel in the first place. Yes, there was noise as my room was street facing and on the bottom floor, but earplugs meant I slept great every night. Breakfasts are plentiful, room and bathroom are clean and tastefully decorated with everything I needed like a safe, a desk, space, and a hairdryer. Shower was good, water temperature in mine changed a little but by and large it was constant. I needed advice on trains, and Christian on Reception helped me out by advising to walk 400metres to nearby Jannowitzbrucke S+U station and get a more direct train to where I was, local info that helped that day and afterward. On check-out, Monika on Reception was a pleasure to deal with, and took care of my luggage until I needed to leave for the airport, and another staff member called me a taxi. Note: Berlin city is very far from the airport: a local gave me this help to get to art’otel: take the FEX train (airport train) as far as S Ostkreuz Bhf, it gets in on platform 14 (‘Gl. 14’). Then walk to the S5 line in the direction of S Westkreuz platform 6. Travel 2 stops and get off at S Ostbanhof platform 11, then walk outside, CROSS THE ROAD to the bus shelter and catch the 147 bus marked U Leopoldplatz via S+U Friedrichstr to stop ‘U Markisches Museum’, and finally walk the 130 metres across to Wallstreet 70 where art’otel is. If you’re travelling with a group, children, or the infirm, please note this. For this reason, and cos I wanted to be sure to be on time for my flight back home, I took a taxi back to the airport This cost 69 euros and took about 1 hour at 4pm on a Monday afternoon, but it was worth it to not have to haul luggage up and down platform steps etc and work out unfamiliar trains. Overall the staff are really the jewel in art’otel’s crown, a funky art-loving hotel in Mitte on the canal.

We were extremely well looked after by all the art 'otel staff whether with enquiries or help at the front desk, breakfast service or at the bar. Special mention must go to Sebastian and Luca who were the perfect hosts behind the bar, always very welcoming and courteous - and Sebastian made a mean Martini! We were sorry to say goodbye to them. The bedroom was comfortable, if compact, and the decor was quirky and stylish, and lived up to the hotel's name, with paintings everywhere you looked. We had an excellent spread for breakfast every morning. The location was quiet, next to the canal, and had a great neighbourhood bar and an excellent Middle Eastern restaurant nearby. Also very well appointed for most of the main sights - within about 20 mins' walk. A good choice for a first visit to Berlin and we really enjoyed our stay.

Dee

The location was great - very near two train lines as well as bus stops. We thought it was great to have bicycles available to borrow from the hotel, although we did not use them. We appreciated and used the umbrellas available to borrow from the lobby. We also appreciated the selection of snacks and beverage items available to us when choosing to forego daily cleaning service. We ate most of our breakfasts and bought sandwiches to take for lunch while touring at a cafe on the corner (turn left when you exit the building), and also ate a delicious breakfast at Yada Yada. The staff in the front lobby were extremely pleasant and responsive to every request.

Stephanie

Excellent location great room design and wonderful hotel in general. A special thanks to the lady who checked me in - kind, efficient, professional, and showed high understanding. When I arrived I was caught by the heat and fatigue. She saw me needing to refresh myself, she provided all require info without overwhelming me. Also she understood the fact that I travelled alone, she avoided at all cost telling my room number in public. An example of great reception staff. Thank you :-)

The location is great. You have multiple bus and metro stops around. In a 10 min walking distance, you have a city center with supermarkets and many other shops where you can buy food and necessities. The neighbourhood is clean and calm and down the street, you have two coffee shops. Also, there’s a bar, restaurant, gym and spa on the premises.
